Not being able to pronounce the two sounds /ɪ/ and /i:/ in English is a common mistake which students from lots of countries make. Actually, these two vowel sounds are very similar except one is SHORT and one is LONG. The problem for most students is creating the LONG /i:/ sound and not pronouncing it correctly can create mistakes between words like “ship” and “sheep”, “chip” and “cheap”…and a few others 😉
