This group was formed in Nottingham, UK in 2009 when singer Hannah Reid and guitarrist Dan Rothman met in the Ancester Hall of residence at the University of Nottingham during their first year. One year later they were joined by drummer/keyboarder Dominic “Dot” Major. They choose the name “London Grammar” because “not only was it where we’re from, but London is also so international and multicultural that it actually felt like quite a universal name in a way” (quote Hannah Reid). After they completed their studies the trio moved to London and pursued a career in music. In 2013 they released their debut EP “Metal & Dust” and later that year their single “Wasting My Young Years” which reached the Top 40 of the UK Single Charts and peaked at #31. They followed it up with their first album in September 2013 called “If You Wait”. This album peaked at #2 in the UK and Australia and has been awarded double platinum in their homecountry and platinum in Australia. The single “Strong” reached the Top 20 in the UK Single Chart and the Top 5 in Australia. Strong won the “Ivor Novello Award” for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.
In 2017 London Grammar released their 2nd album “Truth Is A Beautiful Thing”. The album topped the UK album charts, peaked at #2 in France, #3 in Australia and Ireland and reached the Top 10 in Germany among other places. It has been certifield Gold in the UK and France. Two singles of the album “Big Picture” and “Truth Is A Beautiful Thing” reached the Top 40 of the French single charts. And in August this year they released their last single “Baby It’s You”.
